Continuing the sporting fun of the Christchurch summer

One of the binding elements of Christchurch is sport. Whether it's the dominance of the Crusaders in Super Rugby, the emergence of Hagley Oval as a top cricket venue or the ease of getting to the snow-laded Southern Alps, the Canterbury region is the hub of New Zealand sport.

While the summer of 2016-17 is all but over, we thought it would be good to recap everything great that has happened in the Garden City. Of course, at Xtreme Entertainment, our doors are always open to create your own sporting memories and highlights amongst your friends and family.

Sporting moments of our summer

Hagley Oval was the place to be in Christchurch this summer as the Blackcaps hosted Pakistan, Bangladesh and South Africa. Of course, while the Blackcaps remained unbeaten in Christchurch this season, it was the second ODI against South Africa that will go down in the memory.

Needing a win to get level in the series, Ross Taylor produced a brilliant century as New Zealand posted a competitive 289. In reply, South Africa were reduced to 283/9 after 50 overs, with Trent Boult claiming 3/63. A nail-biting finish which went down to the final over.

Switching codes, the new Super Rugby season has just begun and the Crusaders have made a strong start. Winning at AMI Stadium against the Brumbies in round one, Scott Robertson's team has won two away games in Dunedin and Brisbane to start 3-0. As Christchurch's favourite regional sporting side, it's certainly time that this title came back home this season!

Becoming your own sporting heroes

Although we all have dreams of being the next Richie McCaw or Ross Taylor, professional sport is a tough nut to crack. This said, you can always become a star at Xtreme Entertainment, where there is no selection panel or rotation policy!

Across two sports - bowling and arcade - compete against your friends and family to be the champion. You might not make the news for bowling a couple of strikes in our lanes, these are the highlights and memories that stick around for years to come!

So, what are you waiting for? Organise your team and head down to Xtreme Entertainment Garden City for a session of fun. With plenty of lanes available, you're able to hone your skills, beat the opposition and maybe even start your own journey to represent Canterbury and New Zealand!
